With the Reds' new manager Brendan Rodgers, Valdi began to show his true potential, scoring 32 goals in just under two years at Anfield. His performances were so good that he was called up by Rodgers to represent the England national team at Euro 2016, where he helped his country to victory.
Despite his success at the highest level, Valdi never forgot his roots and returned to Southend United to become their first-choice striker. However, he was soon replaced by Danny Welbeck, who went on to become one of the most successful strikers in Premier League history.
